FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PALMER - Charles E. Cavagnaro III, MD, President and CEO of Wing Memorial Hospital and Medical Centers announces that Richard Whitten, MD, has joined the medical staff of Wing Memorial Hospital and Medical Centers. Dr. Whitten, a vascular surgeon from UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, is board-certified in vascular surgery and is providing consultative services at Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer. Dr. Whitten conducts vascular surgery evaluations for adult patients who have vascular disease, which involves diseases of the arteries or veins. Vascular disease occurs when arteries become narrowed or clogged and this condition can affect all arteries in the body including those in the brain, heart, legs, or arms. Patients who are cleared for vascular surgery are referred to the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Program at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. The highly skilled vascular surgeons at UMass Memorial perform complete evaluations and offer the most current treatment options to care for their patients. Utilizing nonsurgical, minimally invasive, and surgical treatments, the surgeons at the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Program are dedicated to the comprehensive understanding and treatment of all arterial and venous disorders. Dr. Whitten earned his medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his surgical residency at Boston Medical Center. He also completed a vascular surgery fellowship at the Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Office hours for Dr. Whitten are every other Monday from 9 to 12 noon.
