	<p>HealthAlliance Hospital offers a full range of comprehensive pediatric services and referrals for children from newborns to young adults. The staff of experts - pediatricians, family practice physicians and pediatric nurses - offers the most current technologies and treatments for children. They are dedicated to making every child's hospitalization safe and comfortable, and they keep families fully involved in their child's care.</p>
<p>As a member hospital of UMass Memorial Health Care, our pediatricians refer to the broad range of pediatric specialists at UMass Memorial <a href="MedicalcenterIP.cfm?id=2053">Children's Medical Center</a> in Worcester when such care is needed. Infants and children who require intensive care are referred to the <a href="MedicalcenterIP.cfm?id=2168">Pediatric Intensive Care Unit</a> at UMass Memorial .</p>
<p>The range of services available on the Leominster Campus allows area patients to remain close to home even when they need inpatient care.</p>
<p><strong>Inpatient Care</strong>: The Pediatric/Young Adult Unit is licensed for 12 inpatient beds and is led by a team of hospital medicine specialists trained in pediatrics. A parent is invited to sleep overnight on the sleeping recliner provided in each room to make the child feel more comfortable during his/her hospital stay. Morning coffee is available for parents, and boarding mothers breastfeeding their child (who is a patient) also receive meals.</p>
<p><strong>Pediatric Same-Day Surgery/Recovery</strong>: A child undergoing same day surgery is admitted to the Pediatric/Young Adult Unit where trained pediatric nurses look after him/her. The nurses prepare the child for surgery and accompany him/her to the operating room. When the surgery is completed and the patient awakes in the first phase of recovery, he/she is&nbsp;brought back to the unit to complete recovery. He/she stays on the pediatric unit until discharged. Families are encouraged to remain on the pediatric unit with their child.</p>
<p><strong>Patient Information</strong>: Family members may call their child's nurse at any time about his/her condition. To ensure safety and confidentiality, prearranged proof of identify is required before the nurse provides any information. For information, call 978-466-4160.</p>
